Why You Should Be Buying Wholesale Olive Oil For Your Home

Why You Should Be Buying Wholesale Olive Oil For Your HomeI think you should be buying wholesale olive oil for your home.

What really I mean is, if you're using enough, I think you should be buying your olive oil by the gallon or 35 Lb Container/5 gallon pail.  So what's "enough" olive oil to make wholesale volumes worthwhile?

When Does It Make Sense To Buy Wholesale Volumes?

Long story short, it makes sense to buy your olive oil in wholesale volumes when you can use it up before it goes bad.  Pretty straightforward right?

So the next questions is, how long does it take for oil to go bad?  Olive oil is best used within 24 months (2 years) of the processing date.  This means that for the most part, by the time it gets to you, you've got a year or a year and a half to use it up.  That's a long time!  But to make it last that long, you've really got to store it properly, or else...

How To Store Your Wholesale Olive Oil Properly

There's 3 key basics to storing your olive oil properly.  Keep it away from:

  1. Light: that's sunlight, overhead lighting, tanning beds (just kidding...), all of it!
  2. Air: Keep your oil away from oxygen in whatever way you can.  Bag in a Box containers are ideal.
  3. Heat: Your olive oil wants to be cool-- like wine cellar cool.  It may become cloudy in cooler temperatures, but that's okay.  It's better stored cool-- and that can actually help preserve the shelf life even longer.

Here's What I Suggest To Buy

Here's what I suggest, with two options for homes that use a little or a lot.

a.) Homes That Use A Little: Buy a 3 Liter Bag in a Box Container of olive oil.  This packaging helps preserve the shelf life and it's really not that much oil.  Most homes should be able to use it within a year.  If it helps, I've actually had this packaging in my home for almost a year now, and the oil is still delicious.

b.) Homes That Use A Lot:  Buy the 35 Lb Container, and refill either a 3 Liter BIB, 1 Gallon Jug or glass bottle from it.  You can even get a 35 Lb. Container with a screw on spigot.  You can put that baby up on a shelf and pour out of it-- it's perfect and so easy to use!
