How It's Made
Organic soybean plants are grown using organic farming methods, from soybeans that have not been genetically modified. The soybean plant is a stalk-like plant with hanging pods of beans (think of edamame). The plants are harvested and the organic soybeans are removed and transported to the mill. As a part of the Non-GMO Project Verification, before processing, the proteins in the beans are tested to ensure that there are no GMOs. This makes sure there was no GMO cross-contamination through wind or otherwise.
Organic soybean oil is expeller pressed using a physical press that squeezes the oil out of the bean. This process is a healthier alternative to most conventional soybean oil extraction, which is typically a solvent-expelled process that uses harsh chemical solvents, like hexane, to draw the oil out.
After the oil is expelled pressed, it goes through an organic-approved refining, bleaching and deodorizing process.
Our organic soybean oil is non-GMO and verified by The Non-GMO Project™. The USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) also closely monitors all organic processes including growing, harvesting, transporting, producing and packaging the final product.
What It's Used For
Organic Soybean Oil is a multi-purpose oil that is light in color and has a mild taste. This makes it ideal for use in organic baking, frying, sautéing and home cooking. Because of its light flavor, it can be used in both savory and sweet foods.
It's also used as a bulk ingredient by organic food manufacturers, sauce makers, industrial bakeries and other businesses. It's is one of the more popular choices for organic oil ingredients in the natural / healthy food industry, because it is a cheaper option.
It is ideal for use in products which will also be Non-GMO Project Verified and USDA Organic Certified before being sold on retail shelves.
